All the silks

All the silks

I went to Creative Designs convention a couple of weekends ago. Vogue Fabrics was in attendance as one of the vendors. I couldn't pass up their array of dupioni silks. The dark green has a burgundy cast which will be perfect for Christmas ornaments.

A closer view. I added beads instead of doing french knots.

Test

This is a test. I set my camera for 8MP instead of 12MP. Still took a long time to download. I'm still playing with Fliker.

Anyway, here is a delightful chart my secret stitcher sent to me for my birthday. Just right for patriotic holidays and it has a house. (I like houses.)

Birthday giveaway part II

I hated to do it, but my husband picked another name yesterday evening for my birthday giveaway. HEIDI is the winner of my birthday giveaway. I will gladly send Bonnie a giveaway too if she eventually emails me.

I am in the midst of trying out Flicker for sending photos to my blog. I haven't figured it out yet (time crunch) but luckily have Blogging for Dummies and hope to get a handle on it soon. I think I can change the pixel amt. on my camera too so I'll have to give that a go and see what I can come up with. Sorry about that. Hopefully sooner rather than later I can get some photos up.

I don't know about where you live but it is HOT here with lots of HUMIDITY. Daunting to say the least. I have to limit blueberry picking to an hour. Yesterday a friend and I picked for 2 hours and it was too much for me.

Birthday Celebration

We celebrated my birthday on Sunday after the two young men finished their work day. A little pre dinner blueberry picking

I wanted to make this cake billed as a special occasion cake. And it was. Lucious layer lemon cake from Cooks's Illustrated March/April 2007. Wow, it was good. I've never attempted 7 minute frosting because of mixing 7 minutes over the stove but their version was doable. Heat the mixture over hot water while stirring with spoon until the mixture reaches 160 degrees F. Then transfer over to the stand mixture and let the mixer do the work for about 10 minutes. Perfect.

Family photo before a great meal of grilled salmon, brocoli, and roasted red potoatoes. In attendance: Dana (DD), Ryan (DS), Rich (DH), Evan (DGS) and Joe (DSIL).

After dinner, Evan treated us to a puppet show. (think Punch and Judy)

It was a delightful birthday.
I hope Bonnie will visit again and realize that she won the giveaway. I will pull another name next Tuesday evening if I get no response.
Does anyone have any tips or hints on uploading pictures? My new camera's pictures are taking forever to upload. It's taking too long to blog and I have lots of pictures to share. HELP.
